The EPW Research Foundation (EPWRF) was set up in January 1993 to mark the milestone of Sameeksha Trust completing 25 years. Sameeksha Trust, established in April 1966 as a registered trust under the Bombay Trusts Act 1950, is devoted to the advancement of research in economics and the other social sciences.

The EPW Research Foundation (EPWRF), set up in January 1993, conducts research on financial and macro-economic issues in India. Since its inception, the Foundation has been able to pool scattered information and data released periodically by the government, the Reserve Bank of India and other organisations enabling systematic compilation and dissemination of data pertaining to various sectors.
